Not Me! Monday!

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama.

I did not have a crazy schedule in July. We did not go on vacation to Niagara Falls/Buffalo. When we came home, we did not stay around less than 48 hours and take off again. When we got home from that trip, we did not drive straight to the hospital and leave my dad there. He was not in the hospital for a week. Once he was discharged, he did not go home and mow the neighbor’s grass within 48 hours of leaving the hospital. He was not re-admitted to the hospital the following day, and did not stay there for a few days. He was not discharged again last week, and has not been making an effort to get his strength back. Mom is not completely worn out from all this.

I have not been slow updating my blog, largely because of what hasn’t been happening.

I have not been taking the girls to two movies a week. It’s not hot here, or anything, so being inside a nice, cool theater wouldn’t be a real treat. I did not fall asleep watching Star Wars: Clone Wars. I didn’t fall asleep during Doogle, either. No adult would ever fall asleep in a movie theater, would they?

I did not go to the grocery store last night, and I was not shocked and appalled at the price of toilet paper.

My hubby did not take off work last Thursday and Friday to take care of some projects around the house. He did not replace the vanities and faucet sets in both of our upstairs bathrooms. I do not think the new sets (that don’t really exist) look beautiful. I am not thankful to have such a skillful hubby.

I did not post my 100th post last week and fail to even notice…

Not Me! Monday!

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama.

Do not forget to enter my giveaway here.

I did not take the Princesses to two movies last week. We did not see Kit Kittredge: American Girl. It was not an excellent movie and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone else.

We also didn’t see Spiderwick Chronicles. It wasn’t totally too graphic for my 7 year old, who did not end up in my lap with her face buried in my neck during one particular scene.

I did not send my girls outside to play in the backyard. They did not complain that they had nothing to do back there. There isn’t a swingset in the back yard. There are no other toys, either. I did not make them stay outside anyway, so that I could not mop the floor.

We did not get to see the fireworks on Independence Day. If we had seen them, we certainly wouldn’t have been seated just outside the fireline, only feet from the command center. That wouldn’t have been totally incredible.

The giveaway on my blog isn’t almost over. Today isn’t the last day. If you don’t want to check it out, don’t click

Not Me! Monday!

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama.

Last week we did not have Vacation Bible School at our church. There were not over 200 children participating, and there were not about 170 workers. We are not blessed to attend a church that puts a high priority on reaching out to our community.

I was not so tired each day that I had to come home and take a rest before King J got home.

Our pastor did not become Pastor Yogi. Pastor Yogi did not, at times, have trouble keeping his head on straight. The children did not love Pastor Yogi (and neither did the adults!).

Princess E did not have tremendous fun making crafts!

She did not get wet outside either. She didn't drink so much kool-aid that her mustache is permanent.

At the end of VBS, Princess E did not volunteer to help with the clean-up.

I did not take more than 700 photos during VBS! I did not spend several hours each night processing the photos in Photoshop. Since I am not a Photoshop newbie, I did not learn anything in the process.

My step-daughter, Princess B, did not arrive for her two-week visit.

I am not hosting my first giveaway on my blog. If you don’t want to check it out, don’t click
here.

Not Me! Monday!

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama.

I did not spend a full week home with my daughter, having fun, for the first time since she started Junior Kindergarten, four summers ago.

It did not rain much of the week, so we did not spend the time looking for indoor activities.

I did not take her to the movies twice in the same week. We did not see “Igor” and we did not see “Tale of Desperaux”. I didn’t enjoy the movies that I didn’t take her to.

We did not drive a couple of hours to see family friends whose youngest son, Anthony, just graduated from high school. Princess E didn’t get confused and think Anthony was the oldest son, Jonathan, and then ask “Where’s Anthony?”. We didn’t enjoy spending the afternoon with them. We don’t miss them and wish they still lived nearby.

We didn’t take a ferry ride Saturday evening. Once we got to the other side, we did not make a U-Turn and get right back on the same ferry and return from whence we came. That would be silly.

We are not having VBS at church this week, so I will not be a little extra busy. I have not agreed to take pictures.

I don’t have my very first giveaway coming up this week, so be sure you don’t stop back by in the next couple of days. I am not a tease.

Not Me! Monday!

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

I did not make homemade pasta for the very first time this week. It did not turn into a yucky mess of chewy, leather-like chunks and strips. I did not decide that boxed pasta was a much better deal and tremendously less messy.

I am not still finding pockets of flour in my kitchen from the process of making the pasta.

I did not attend my daughter’s school spelling bee this past Friday. She was not disqualified in the first round for misspelling the word “language”. There is no “u” in that word. She was not bitterly disappointed.

At the spelling bee, there were not two other parents sitting directly behind me offering an ongoing commentary of the bee. I did not get highly irritated with them. I did not give them a few nasty looks over my shoulder. My mother, who was not sitting in the row with me, did not turn around and glare at them in such a way as to cause them to be quiet for just a few blessed moments so the rest of us could hear the children. These same two parents did not tell their son that their words were harder than the fourth graders’ words. Their third grade son did not pass this information onto the other third graders, mine included, and get them all riled up. My daughter, and others, did not end up crying because they believed these poor-sport parents. I did not remind my daughter that each grade was given a list of words to study, and that she was given a word off her list.

Saturday, we did not go to our daughter's soccer game. While I wasn’t there, I didn’t go sit in the shady spot, even though it wasn’t the best spot on the field. I didn’t stay comfy while so many others baked in the sun.

After the soccer game, we did not drive to a neighboring city and visit Bass Pro Shops for most of the afternoon and evening. They are not offering Family Summer Camps, and those camps they aren’t offering are not any fun for a certain princess. We did not finish our evening by making s’mores out by their campfire.

Sunday, after church, we did not go to a Greek Festival. It was not rather hot. There were not approximately 50,000 people stuffed into one city block that also housed a rather large church (sponsor) and a house. The lines for food were not so long that it didn’t seem worth it. We did not choose to buy dessert only instead of a meal, just because the lines was short. We did not enjoy watching the children dance in traditional garb. We didn’t have fun.

My squash plants to not have a bunch of beautiful yellow blooms on them. Nope, they don’t.

Not Me! Monday!

Not Me! Monday!

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

King J did not get up at dawn this morning to go outside and lower our flag to half-staff for Memorial Day.

This morning, I did not get up extra early, long before my family, so that I would have time to mop my kitchen floor before the daily rush of traffic. After all, it isn’t a day when I could sleep in or anything.

After I didn’t mop the kitchen floor, I did not decide to start the ice cream base for the homemade ice cream we will have later today. I most assuredly did not somehow manage to spill the egg yolk/sugar slurry onto my freshly not mopped floor, and splatter it over the front of my stove and cabinets.

After I didn’t put the ice cream base together, I did not go to set it in the refrigerator to cool and knock over a quart of soy milk in the process. The soy milk container did not burst open on contact with the floor and soy milk did not spill and spray across the floor I did not earlier mop. None of the soy milk ran under the refrigerator either, and I didn’t have to push and prod and struggle to get it cleaned up. I also did not have to re-mop the floor, since I hadn’t mopped it in the first place.

Once the ice cream base I didn’t make was not safely stored in the refrigerator and the soy milk wasn’t cleaned up, I did not decide to start a pot of coffee. I would not do that, considering how my kitchen skills had not presented themselves this morning. In the process of not adding water to the coffeemaker, I did not spill said water in a puddle on my kitchen floor. As I didn’t pull the mop out yet again, I did not contemplate going back to bed and trying again in a few hours.

I also did not take a moment to put all this in perspective, then have a good chuckle at myself. I didn’t consider how silly it was to be frustrated over spilled milk, sticky egg mixture or water puddles. I didn’t think about how I could be sitting in a war zone right now, wishing I could brush my teeth or take a shower to get the gritty sand off me. I didn’t think about all the headstones in our national cemeteries that represent those who gave their lives so I could have the freedom to make a big mess in my kitchen and write a post about it.

Later today, before we go have a fun cookout, our family will not be visiting our local war memorial to pause a moment and remember to be thankful.

Not Me! Monday! - Stellan Style

Not Me! Monday!

Welcome to Not Me! Monday!-Stellan Style! We're continuing this blog carnival in honor of Stellan, the precious 5 month old miracle son of MckMama.

This past week, I surely did not stay glued to my computer checking MckMama's website and twitter posts for the latest updates on Stellan. Of course, I have too much to do for that.

I totally did not get up at 6:15 every morning, and go straight to the computer just to see if there were any updates overnight.

I certainly did not make checking on Stellan the last thing I did before going to bed each night, usually after midnight.

I did not create a photo of Stellan's name in toothpicks and post it on my blog. I have not continued to try to find a way to make a more unique name gallery submission. There are not a gazillion much more creative images than I've been able to think of.

I did not join the Facebook group "Praying for Stellan", and I certainly did not join another Facebook group "Pray for Stellan".

I have not spent time every day praying for Stellan, MckMama, their entire family, and all those providers who are caring for him and making decisions on his behalf.

I did not wake up in the middle of the night yesterday, needing to pray, and spend some extra time with God.

My heart has not been terribly heavy this past week, worrying about a little baby I've never met, and just hoping his broken heart will be made whole.

I do not feel like MckMama is a personal friend, even though we have not met.

I have not cried the first tear over Stellan.

What haven't you been up to this week because/for Stellan? Will you not join us in holding this family tightly with prayer and lifting them up to our God?

Not Me! Monday!

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

This past week, I did not go on a field trip with my daughter’s class and allow her to walk around in only shirt-sleeves because she left her jacket at school. I also did not eventually give her mine when the temperature dropped from chilly to cold, and end up walking around without one myself. I, of course, would not let her forget her jacket.

I did not make tiramisu again, for the second time in a month. It’s really not unhealthy, so it wouldn’t matter if I did; but it is really not delicious, and no one would want to eat it again so soon.

I did not enter worship service late yesterday because I was not outside chatting with a friend.

I did not allow my cat to have an empty frozen vegetable bag to play with. He did not reach into the trash can to get it, and he did not wallow on the floor with it like it was laced with catnip. He does not do such silly things.

I did not put off doing my taxes again for another week. I had them done back in January.

I have not secretly enjoyed the rain we’ve had for the last several days. Our trees are not greening up, and they certainly are not blooming so soon. Spring is not just around the bend.

I am not shamelessly asking everyone who visits to leave a comment, just so I can see who is here and say “HI”.

Was there anything you did not do this week?

Not Me! Monday!

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

This past Saturday, I did not sit up at my computer, with cell phone in hand, to see exactly what would happen when we sprung forward. My phone went from 1:59 to 3:00. My computer went from 1:59 to 2:59, then to 3:00. I did not have trouble getting up to go to church on Sunday because of too little sleep. Not me, I always wake up early.

I most certainly did not put a dead fish from my daughter’s fish tank into a plastic bag and stick it in my refrigerator because it was still under warranty and it was too nasty to go out. My little princess also did not inform me that sticking her fish in the refrigerator was really nasty.

I did not sit up half the night reading a novel instead of sleeping. I absolutely must have sufficient sleep, and it would be totally out of character for me.

I did not eat an entire bag of “fruit slices” candy all by myself over the course of the last week. That would be entirely too selfish, not to mention that it isn’t good for me. I always eat only healthy foods and would not eat that much candy.

I did not teach my daughter the origins of the names of the days of the week. Nor did I help her learn a little geography and ancient history by using an atlas and the first chapter of Genesis. She did not figure out that the Garden of Eden was somewhere in or near present-day Iraq. I did not teach her these things, because I do not know about these things myself and am far past the age of learning new things.

I did not thoroughly enjoy having my daughter home for three days because of the snow. We did not play in the snow. We did not go to the library and spend two hours reading by a big picture window.

I did not find a gigantic cobweb on a figuring in the corner of my dining room and just leave it there. Surely, I did not. I would never do such a thing. I also would never leave a load of laundry sitting on my couch all weekend. I am much too organized for something so, well, disorganized.

King J and I did not sit in separate rooms of the house, on separate laptops, and e-mail, IM or chat on Facebook. For goodness sake, we're in the same house, and would never do something so silly.

Well, I think that about covers all the stuff I did not do this week. What did you not do?

Not Me! Monday!

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

I totally did not try Not Me! Monday! for the first time this week.

I did not fail at trying to get the log to appear in the body of this blog and have to put it in the title instead.
