Sponsored Review and a Giveaway!!

Update:  This giveaway is now closed.  The winner, as selected using Random.Org, is Kameron from A Wrinkle In Time.  Enjoy trying the Strawberry and Blueberry!  Thanks, everyone, for entering.

********************************************************************

MyBlogSpark™ and Yoplait recently teamed up to introduce Yoplait Greek yogurt.  They sent me two coupons to purchase the yogurt, try it, and write a review of it.  Since Greek-style yogurt is something I particularly enjoy, I decided to give it a try.

In addition to sending me the coupons to try the Yoplait Greek yogurt, they also sent me a “Nourish Your Inner Goddess” gift pack.  In my gift pack, there was a collection of items that would make a lovely, pampering experience, including a loofah scrub, wooden massager, spa slippers and a plush terry spa wrap.

Now, before I share my experience with it, let me share some of the information they provided.  “With 12 grams of protein -- twice that found in leading yogurts-- new Yoplait Greek nourishes from the inside out. Available in four delicious flavors, Strawberry, Blueberry, Honey Vanilla and Plain, the brand´s newest offering has a unique thick and creamy texture with the unmatched taste expected of Yoplait.

To celebrate its new Greek yogurt and to encourage women to nourish their inner goddess, Yoplait has teamed up with actress Izabella Miko, who plays Greek Goddess Athena in the epic adventure new Warner Bros. Pictures´ and Legendary Pictures´ film "Clash of the Titans," in theatres April 2 in 3D.”

Check out this trailer for “Clash of the Titans”

But, what you really want to know is how I liked the Yoplait Greek yogurt, right?  Well, let me tell you about my experience.  First, I had to try several stores before I found it.  I guess it is just because it is so new, since most of my local grocery stores do carry Yoplait brand yogurts.  Ultimately, I found it at Kroger, priced at $1.19 per six ounce container.  I chose Honey Vanilla, since that is my preferred flavor.

The first thing I checked was the label.  One container has 130 calories.  I was pleasantly surprised to find 270 mg of Potassium.  That is a little higher than my usual brand of Greek yogurt.  The protein content is consistent with other brands of Greek yogurt, most of which have around twice the protein of regular yogurt.  What I didn’t care for is that the Honey Vanilla flavor contained no actual honey.  It also does not contain live, active cultures, which I expect to find in any yogurt product I purchase.

The texture was thick and creamy, as I would expect.  Honestly, though, there was something about the flavor that was off.  It was not a bad taste; it just was not the flavor to which I am accustomed.  There was a mild bitterness to it.  There was a bit of an aftertaste, as well.

Would I buy it again?  Maybe.  Since it costs about half of what I normally pay for my usual brand of Greek yogurt, the price makes it more affordable, especially if I use a coupon.  (You can download a coupon, too.  See below.)  But, I would buy it in addition to, not as a substitute for, my regular brand of Greek yogurt.

Would YOU like to give Yoplait Greek Yogurt a try?  Yoplait and MyBlogSpark™ provided me the opportunity to give one of my blog readers another Yoplait Greek "Nourish Your Inner Goddess" gift pack like mine that will also contain two VIP* coupons for Yoplait Greek yogurt.  (Please note *This coupon offer for a free cup of Yoplait Greek yogurt is not valid in some states, including California, Idaho, Louisiana, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, North Dakota, and Tennessee.

How do you enter?  First, this contest is open only to residents of the USA.  Second, please visit the Yoplait Greek Yogurt website here to learn more about the product and flavors.  (Don’t forget to download your $0.30 off coupon while you are there.)  Then, leave me a comment telling me which two flavors you would try if you win the giveaway.

Stop & Shop and General Mills Back-to-School Promotion

UPDATE:  This contest is now closed.  The winner was selected using random.org and is commenter #1 - Sara @ Domestically Challenged.  Congratulations Sara!  I'll be contacting you by email.
General Mills and Stop & Shop are teaming up for a great Back to School promotion, where you can stock up and save on both groceries and gas! This Back-to-School Saving Event is taking place at Stop & Shop stores September 4-10. Our family travels a lot (yeah, really, A LOT!), and when we are in New England, we pick up our groceries from Stop & Shop.
During the Back-to-School event, Stop & Shop is offering great sale pricing on the participating General Mills brands:
Cheerios, Lucky Charms, Reeses Puffs, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Cookie Crisp Sprinkles, Cookie Crisp, Fruit Snacks, Old El Paso Dinner Kits, Pillsbury Strudel, Pillsbury Scrambles, Green Giant Boxed Vegetables, Yoplait Yo-Plus Multi-Pack, Fiber One Yogurt Multi-Pack, Pillsbury Refrigerated Cookies, Pillsbury Crescent Rolls, Pillsbury Sweet Rolls and Yoplait Delights
Cheerios are a huge hit at my house. I can't keep enough of them for my daughter, who refers to them as "doughnut seeds". Anyway, this week, they are on sale...two (8.9 ounce) boxes for $5.
There are also additional savings for you or your school, depending on which Stop & Shop location you visit.
For example, if your Stop & Shop store sells gas and you buy four (4) participating General Mills items, you’ll automatically earn 100 points on your Stop & Shop card. Then, for every 100 points earned, you'll save 10¢ per gallon of gas (Please note: Total discount cannot exceed price per gallon). All you have to do is swipe your Stop & Shop Card at the pump to redeem your Gas Rewards
Now, if your Stop & Shop store doesn’t sell gas, don’t worry – you’re not left out of the savings – if you buy five (5) participating General Mills products, you will receive 20 Bonus Box Tops for your school! How great is that?!?!?
You know what would make this even sweeter? How about a gift card to Stop & Shop? That's right, the folks at MyBlog Spark and General Mills have given me a $10 gift card so I could enjoy this promotion. (That will be four boxes of Cheerios for me.) In addition, they will provide one of you with your very own $10 gift card to Stop & Shop!
Here is how you can enter:

  • Visit the Stop & Shop website and look through the current circular.

  • Leave me a comment and tell me how much money you think you could save shopping at Stop & Shop.

  • Be sure to leave me your contact information, or make sure I can easily find it in your profile.
You can earn extra entries by:

  • Following my blog. Be sure to leave me a separate comment.

  • Tweet about this giveaway and leave a comment with the link.

  • Post on your own blog about this promotion and link back to me. Again, please leave me a separate comment.
This giveaway is open to residents of the United States only. I will accept comments/entries through 11:59 pm (EDT), Thursday, September 10, 2009. The winner of the gift certificate will be randomly drawn from all qualified entries and announced/notified Friday, September 11. The winner will have 48 hours to send me full contact information. After 48 hours, I will select an alternate winner.
*Disclaimer - MyBlogSpark and General Mills provided me with my own $10 gift certificate for blogging about this promotion, and will provide the winner with a $10 gift certificate. The opinions expressed, however, are entirely my own. I am a regular shopper at Stop & Shop, and do participate in their My Stop & Shop program.

My Very First Giveaway!

UPDATE: Contest is closed. The Winner is #2, A Joyful Chaos! Congratulations!

The folks over at Mom Select and Precious Moments are sponsoring my first giveaway! I’m so excited that they chose me to promote this product. I am happy to have these in my home for our daughter. What is this product you ask?

It is The Precious Girls Club. It is a special club, just for girls. The club offers a series of books about everyday little girls who practice the virtues of precious girls. In fact, it is a rule for each member of the club. So, just what are those virtues? They are loving, caring, kindness, responsibility and helpfulness. Excellent virtues for any person, and they definitely represent the behaviors I want to see my daughter exhibit.

In addition to the book series, there are stuffed animals, figurines, music CD’s, bracelets and charms for girls to collect. Each one of these items comes with a code that provides access to the online world of the Precious Girls Club as a Rainbow member. My daughter loves to play in the online world, and this gives her a safe environment where we can monitor her activity.

In the online environment, girls can collect points for their activities. One of the features I really like is that parents have the option to reward girls with online points when they feel the child has earned the reward. I also like that the online site encourages developing a personal relationship with God and promotes prayer. I encourage you to visit their website to learn more about them. It’s free! Basic membership is free to anyone.

For me, it is a win-win situation. I don’t have to worry about who is approaching her in the online world. I also don’t have to worry about whether the material she is reading fits with my own Christian beliefs and values. I have explored the online world and am satisfied it is something I welcome into my home.

So, let me tell you about the giveaway! Mom Select and Precious Moments provided me with a set of products to give away to one of my blog readers. The package includes the second book in the series, Operation Kindness and a mini plush paws dog. Each of these items includes a code for two months of Rainbow Membership!

Want to know how to register for the giveaway? Yep, I figured you would! Okay, here is how you can enter. First, visit the Precious Girls Club website. Explore the online world. Then, come back to this post and leave me a comment telling me about your favorite part of the site. I will accept comments posted through Monday, July 6, 2009 at 11:59 pm EDT. The giveaway is open to residents of the United Sates (including APO/FPO) and Canada. The winner will be selected randomly and will be posted on this blog on Tuesday, July 7, 2009. Also, I will contact the winner via the contact method noted in the entry. Please make sure you include contact information or a link.

Enjoy!
